In Japan, held in Tokyo & London during February 2010. Tasting Notes by Dave Broom~ Colour︰Deep gold. Nose︰Huge impact with classic Yoichi oiliness (bicycle oil) then hot-smoked salmon, sweet orange and masses of fragrant smoke. In time a lightly resinous note. Palate︰Mouth-coating and richly flavoured. Waxy(spent candle) then comes briny smokiness. A light soft fruitiness in the middle of the tongue. Eucalyptus and cattle cake. Finish︰Back comes the smoked fish, then a medicinal touch, creosote pills. |
