Literature lovers may know that “Tobermory” was also the name given to a talking cat by the Edwardian author Hector Hugh Munro, pen-name Saki. The distillery traces its origins to 1795, but has a much interrupted history, peppered with many owners. Tobermory Distillery was reopened in 1990 and started to produce single malt.
