| Bowmore 1991 16 Years Port Matured Cask Strength ~ The limited edition is the third and final in a series of different wood matured expressions of Bowmore. It has spent its 16 years maturing in 24 port casks held safe in the famous Bowmore Vaults below sea level. The hand crafting of this exceptional malt whisky started back in 1991. The barley was malted, hand turned and traditionally peat kiln dried at the distillery. After mashing, fermentation and slow distillation, through Bowmore’s large copper stills, the spirit was laid sown to mature in fresh port pipes. Tasting Notes~ Colour: Ruby red. Nose: Rich stewed fruit berries, sweet black cherries and hints of bitter dark chocolate underlined by a lighter Bowmore smokiness. Palate: Warm and rounded, packed full of fruit flavours’ of brambles and damson jam followed by a subtle early peat smoke. Finish: Warm and satisfying. |
