| SMWS 7.146 Longmorn 24 years~ Entitled: Orange Velvet Age: 24 yo Date Distilled: 10th Apr 1992 Cask Type: Refill Hogshead / EX Bourbon Amount: 246 bottles Tasting Notes~ What a wonderful complex nose neat; plums preserved in brandy, poached pears in sweet wine, cherry liqueur filled truffles and Dominosteine (layered gingerbreads with apricot jelly, marzipan, cloves and cardamom glazed in dark chocolate). On the palate, sweet, thick and luscious with plenty of flavours of orange liqueur, fondant and Jaffa cakes but also pleasant sweet deeply charred wood in the finish. With a drop of water more orange aromas were showing up; freshly juiced, sherbet, candied and zest and even in a hookah shisha flavoured tobacco. The taste now velvety, silky smooth as well as creamy with a surprising mint julep sweet tea finish. |
