A rare bottling from the 2005 Islay Festival of Malt and Music. This superb malt was distilled on 16th January 1992, and there are only 170 bottles available from cask no.228.
A cask strength the nose is exceptionally aromatic with citrus, cherry, blackcurrant ant sweet liquorice flavours. The sweet, vanilla aromas merge with a hint of peat that masks the intense medicinal flavour normally associated with Laphroaig.
The initial taste has a rush of sweetness with a very distinct peaty tang, this is then mellowed by the fruity succulence and liquorice flavor. Surprisingly there is very little dryness in the aftertaste although it appears to last forever.
