In 1966, former Master Distiller Robert Arthur laid down a run of particularly outstanding spirit. For five decades, our dedicated Master Distillers have monitored this exclusive whisky as it slowly aged at The Glenlivet distillery. This precious spirit became imbued with increasing depth and complexity, soaking up flavor and a sense of history in equal measure. Now, at the peak of its maturation, Master Distiller Alan Winchester has released just 100 bottles of this rare single malt. Crafted over generations, it’s a tribute to George Smith, who created the original single malt that set the standard in taste and quality.
Vintage 1966 is the second edition in The Winchester Collection of 50-year-old single malts. Released over a number of years, the collection is set to become one of the most sought-after and priceless. Matured in an exceptional ex-sherry cask, Vintage 1966 bursts with soft fruit and sweet treacle flavors, and is tantalizingly rich and dark in color.
Upon opening the bottle, the nose exudes sweet, rich aromas of treacle, moist raisins, and homemade apricot jam. On the palate, Vintage 1966 bursts with an abundance of soft fruits, treacle, and juicy orange, with hints of cinnamon and liquorice. The finish is exceptionally luscious and long lasting.
The packaging for The Winchester Collection Vintage 1966 brings together the craftsmanship of Brodie Nairn, Richard Fox, and John Galvin. Every element has been designed and created to stay true to the product and pioneering spirit of The Glenlivet.
