| Ardbeg 1998~2004 Very Young Bottling Note~ The first part in the Young series from Ardbeg, tracking the development of Ardbeg whisky, aged for just a few years, all the way up to the standard Ardbeg at 10 years old. Very interesting indeed, and now extremely rare.  Tasting Note~ Color: Gold straw. Nose: Very peaty and spicy. Notes of cut hay, fresh herbs, smoke, kippers. Hints of the coast, lime juice, coal tar. Palate: Rich and thick. Very malty, hints of salinity, very phenolic, black pepper, chilli, digestive biscuits. Huge and intense. Finish: Smoky, spicy, peaty. Tarmac on a hot day. Some caramel sweetness and citrus. |
