1821年，威廉.史密斯在蘇格蘭Thurso的郊區創立了Wolfburn酒廠，19世紀時Wolfburn是當時Caithness區最大的威士忌蒸餾廠，距今將近200年，此位在蘇格蘭本島最北的沃富奔酒廠於2012年重新落成，2013年第一批新酒產出，採75小時長時間發酵，以慢速的人工蒸餾法增添威士忌果香與大麥的特質，讓酒體質感輕盈滑順，該酒廠首席調酒師 Shane Fraser 特別針對第一批新酒選擇使用前艾雷島威士忌桶重新組裝後的四分之一桶(美國白橡木 & 西班牙橡木)進行熟成，使沃富奔 「北境」單一麥芽威士忌在濃郁香甜的花果香下亦帶有淡淡泥煤煙燻氣息。

While there was once a distillery by the name in the area, no bottles of its whisky remain, and the new Wolfburn has started with a blank slate, making an unpeated dram that already has whisky fans talking.
The smooth and warming flavours present in Northland comes from the unhurried way is which the spirit is made, and the maturation which takes place in American oak quarter casks. Matured and bottled on site, Northland represents the first chapter in the history of Wolfburn.
